Today’s Golfer name The Machrie in GB&I Top 100 ranking

August 15, 2019

A short, quirky, links in a stunning location. Immense fun. A more quirky set of holes than North Berwick. More architects should visit to further their own educations and philosophies. With extensive work underway under new ownership, when that is completed expect this fabulous, remote links to rise back up.

Marvellous Machrie is deservedly right up there with Scotland’s legendary links courses. At just over 6,000 yards the course clearly isn’t long but the Machrie can be a beast when the wind is blowing which is pretty often.

Machrie Links is often regarded as one of the more traditional Scottish golf links and is getting a wider name for itself as one of the better courses in the country.

At 6,250 yards, the Machrie course clearly isn’t very long but when the wind is blowing, which it often is, the course plays much longer and much harder. The course is currently under new ownership and developments are underway to improve areas of the course.
